About
I have spent thirty years selling, delivering, and leading revenue in advisory and technology consulting. Multiple chief revenue officer roles. Grew one consultancy from $20 million to $67 million and another global firm from $120 million to $178 million. Post-graduate AI and machine learning coursework at UT Austin. Today I run Four Emeralds Advisory, the practice behind The Last Billable Hour, working with founders and managing partners of mid-market advisory firms navigating the transition from hourly to outcomes.
I am not writing from a research perch. The forecast is still due on Friday.
What Four Emeralds Advisory is
A solo advisory practice with a network. I do the diagnostic workshops, the transition advisory, and the fractional CRO engagements personally. For the build (engineering, pipeline work, stack architecture), I bring in specialists from firms that have already crossed, matched to the engagement, introduced by name. Four Emeralds is small on purpose: you are hiring the operator, not the brand.
What Four Emeralds Advisory is not
A consulting firm, an agency, or a staffing company. I do not sell hours (obviously), I do not take equity in client firms, and I do not compete with the firms I advise. The advisory exists to guide crossings, and its success metric is how fast you stop needing it.
